Flying Termite Control

There are all of the sudden dozens or maybe even hundreds of little bugs flying in or very close to your home and you have no idea where they’ve come from? You woke up to it or came home to this mess of insects with wings that don’t seem to be able to fly very well and you are now concerned that maybe this has happened before?

You may think "it will go away" and "I just won’t think about them" but, that could be a huge mistake. Every late winter to early spring here in Orange and Los Angeles County a new attack begins on thousands of homes, Subterranean Termites.

When Do They Strike?

On the first sunny day after a rain or an overcast damp day the alates or subterranean termite swarmers emerge from the colony in an attempt to establish a new colony. This is often the first time a homeowner has any idea their house is under attack and often this sign is ignored as not being a problem because they seem to disappear in a day.

What is happening on this fateful spring day? Well, each year a mature subterranean termite colony releases winged reproductives from their home to spread themselves in their environment. These termites have one purpose, to create more colonies.

They “fly” a short distance away from the original colony, they hope to catch a breeze due to the recent changing weather conditions, and, using the sun as their guide, find another termite with which to establish a new colony. This mated pair then burrows into some available wood and will eventually establish themselves and begin destroying the wood in your house and any other cellulose debris they can find.

When Should You Call?

If you have experienced a one day ‘event’ in your home this season then do not hesitate to call for a free professional inspection. We have many ways to treat these invaders and delay will only allow the problem to get worse. We will send a trained inspector to determine the extent of the problem and analyze the best solution to your problem.

We won’t pressure you or force you into “our solution.” We will inform you of your options, advise what we believe to be best for you, and then allow you to decide what is best for you, your house, and your budget.
